Where Was El Río Filmed?

FishSchool.jpg

El Río was filmed over the course of two years in the Peruvian Amazon within a 100-mile radius of Iquitos, a large bustling city with open-air markets and motorcycle noise imbued with the cosmovisions and philosophy of life of indigenous cultures. Filmmakers made numerous excursions, which can only be done by boat from the port city, to the indigenous and riverine communities who fish, hunt, plant, and interact with urban life and the modern world, while maintaining a spirituality sustained by their rivers and forests.
